Reforestation of highland rainforest in Madagascar

In order to expand agriculture, more and more intact forests are being burned down in Madagascar, thereby destroying climate-stabilizing ecosystems. Now only around 10% of Madagascar's original forest cover remains. To counteract this development, Naturefund has brought the Dynamic Agroforestry (DAF) farming method to Madagascar. At the same time, the rainforests are being reforested and habitats are being created.

Saving jungle in the Andes of Bolivia

Back in 2014, Naturefund began planting the first 10,000 trees in the Bolivian Andes, as deforestation meant that the slopes of the Andes near Cochabamba were almost completely bare. There are now over 45,000 trees that have already been planted here. The project is not just about planting trees; rather, the dynamic agroforestry cultivation method creates a holistic approach for people and nature.

Protect lowland rainforest in Costa Rica

In the south of Costa Rica lies the Corcovado National Park with one of the last intact lowland rainforests in the world. The Amistad National Park begins just 80 km away. Naturefund would like to connect these two national parks via a “green climate bridge”, thereby preserving the rainforest and promoting the exchange of species. With the preservation of a protected and densely vegetated rainforest, an amazing CO2 storage is simultaneously preserved.
